Surgery Appointment with Andy Slaughter?

Hello all, first time posting here. I am just wondering if anyone has had the opportuntiy to meet with Andy Slaughter recently? I emailed about an issue close to my heart in April, and recieved a copy and paste reply about only partially related to my message.As a result I've been trying to arrange a surgery appointment since. There are no details on his website, and when I ring, I am forwarded to voicemail where I've left my relevant details. I also emailed to this effect. This was now well over a month ago and I have not recieved any kind of response.I understand that local MPs are very busy, but to not even recieve details aobut how to arrange an appointment or what the current timeline is for seeing him from his team is concerning to me. I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck in succesfully arranging such a meeting in the last few months, or if this is a wider problem.

I don't actually know that this has anything to do with pubs.  That was just suggested..  Pubs nowadays anyway don't have so much to do with drinking alcohol as they once did since supermarkets started selling it so cheap. Surely it is better to drink openly socially and less than secretly and more.Since there are fewer places available  to meet up and housing has in many cases reduced in size they have become meeting places for all sorts of clubs both organised and drop-in from mothers and babies, book clubs, lunch-clubs, music etc.  So they have broadened from just selling alcohol to coffee mornings and juice to meals for those no longer able or willing to cook their own roast dinner.Check out The Garibaldi recently in the news.

And the social costs are huge!  Domestic abuse, gambling, child abuse, drunken  violence, ASB and of course the strain on our Police Services and NHS.

Yes there are social costs arising from pubs, but they provide employment for many, many people (who pay tax of course), contribute to the economy, and perform a valuable social function.

MP’s are always looking for photo opportunities. Mr Slaughter obviously hasn’t answered the OP’s concerns at all or the OP wouldn’t still be posting on this thread. Obviously Pubs are far more important!! More strain on the NHS.

He has already had a partial response - see his first paragraph. He wants more - I get that.  Your reply about photo opportunities though is quite ridiculous.  It IS important for MPs to take part in many of the public events that they do take part in and to be seen to be supporting their constituents.  If you followed anything that Andy Slaughter is interested in you would find that fires in tall buildings is definitely one - as should many other MPs be interested in as there are still masses of high rise buildings which have still not been remediated following Grenfell.  That has shown how important it is to not just dispose with regulations in the search for a much cheaper state and lower taxes - the gap between rich and poor has grown. The legacy of Grenfell and the previous deaths in building fires will live on. An MP's job isn't just sitting in debates or answering letters and there are usually other avenues which can be investigated to network and increase traction in any problem or project.

I don’t think the OP wants to know about Hansards or debates on pubs; he just asked the simple question about his MP’s surgeries or how he can get to talk to his MP or even get an email response from him.

Certainly needs time and morepositives or negatives tofind out if he is serving his newly gained constituents wellor not.Ive a hunch the gone MP would notbe turning up and listening about saving a pub. But I could be wrong

Andy came to meet a group of us who were trying to save a local pub, and gave his support to our ultimately successful campaign.More recently, he replied to me and added his voice raising concerns with the council about an issue that was causing concern amongst residents in our road. Neither time was he campaigning to get re-elected.

May I ask when this was and in what context? For example, was it during his campaign knocking on doors- or did you go to the effort to meet with him?

He would be, I’m afraid- this falls under the “To ask your MP to support a particular campaign that you feel strongly about,” clause. And I’d like to ask about why he wasn’t present at a few recent debates and votes on the subject…

The OP has already received some sort of reply. Sometimes you can be more successful by not going direct but via a Councillor whose portfolio covers whatever your concern is.

In fairness, I've pretty impressed with Andy - seems like an honourable and thoughtful fellow as politicians go, and certainly took the time to talk to me about some concerns I had expressed.

If he couldn’t be bothered to reply to emails or voicemails of have contact details for surgeries on his website, he will surely not be bothered to respond to a letter sent to his HQ.  Obviously he’s not interested in his constituents. Too busy with irrelevant photo shoots.
