And so the season of madness starts again this weekend

Pub in the Park.  And so the usual noise above the lawful decibel limits - calls to a noise helpline that get cut off - soothing noises from councillors and our local Mps - but no action.What's good to hear is that they can't even sell the tickets - I've been offered a ticket on my seatfiller site for free and a £6.50 admin fee.  What a farce!  Jolly boys!

Ended up going for bits of all three days, not as cramped as Chiswick House, more of a festival feel, great food and drink. Music wasn't as good though. At a time when local councils are being starved of funding this is a great way to use a small part of a large park to generate much needed revenue. The alternative is to cut services or screw us taxpayers even harder than is already being done.

I missed the chance to go along but from my position (North Chiswick) the noise was not too bad on Saturday and I couldn't really hear anything on Sunday. Appreciate that those nearer or in the way of prevailing winds might have had a different experience.

The deal for 'free tickets' is back on the seat filler sites. A big problem with the new venue is that, where as Chiswick House offered lovely views and gardens, Gunnersbury Park offers a sports pitch close to the A4. The Soho House event has been there for the last few years and people generally seem unhappy with location particularly for what they are paying. I suspect the switch is not to increase the number of people who can attend but because the fees to use the venue are cheaper. I'm still tempted to pop along this weekend at some point if it is just going to cost me £6.50.

Tom Kerridge has 'slimmed down' the number of 'Pub in the Parks' so he can focus on them and make the ones still going better, apparently. That said, I agree the lineup this year is atrocious, with what seems to be only cover bands and (I would imagine) the usual overpriced food with lengthy queues. Now all set in the less prestigious setting of Gunnersbury Park. I agree the Foodies Festival in Syon Park is the event to go to, with good food, cooking demos, wine tastings, etc. and much better music. We thoroughly enjoyed this years, and it is a fraction of the price.

Thanks for the tip on the seatfiller - I did see the offer but it seems to have disappeared by the time I went to order.Perhaps it is not surprising that tickets weren't selling, I didn't know it was on until you mentioned it and the line up is not that great particularly when compared to the Foodie Fest in Syon Park last weekend. I would have definitely gone for £6.50 though as I always enjoyed Pub in the Park in Chiswick House Gardens.
