Hounslow Council Rubbish Collections

Is anyone having problems with fewer rubbish collections?Here at Chiswick Village the areas for us residents to recycle and have our rubbish collected is looking like a landfill site - bins overflowing.We don’t know when the next collection us due.Is this just us?You may have to click on the below.

Cris. That's a good and informative website.  I also wondered whether their waste contract/s were actually with Hounslow Council.  Different bins require different lorries.  Holiday periods give residents more time to have clear-outs and people behave differently.  This can sometimes mean that lorries are filled faster and have to go to empty their load before finishing their usual round.  Or lorry or operatives problems.  Hopefully it is sorted now!

Interesting Peter.  i haven't actually tried flattening those - I've noticed people have pulled some of these off and presumed it was  just because in the past the instruction was to recycle without the top when they have been redesigned so that the lid is captured for recycling and to stop birds being able to find and swallow the lids and feed them to their young.  I have noticed squashing them even a little can stop them blowing around the street so fast.

I find flattening plastic bottles and drink cartons and refitting the screw top isn’t so easy with the new annoying captive screw tops.

Having recently seen a  large plastics recycling bin stuffed with unflattened large plastic bottles and plastic milk containers I wonder why they are not being flattened so as to reduce their volume.  Many milk containers now give instructions on them to flatten/squash snd replace the lid on the empty rinsed bottle before recycling.  It's less to carry and more plastic being recycled.  But perhaps that's not what the recycling company wants - or nobody's bothered to update the bin information.

When I last looked Chiswick Village Residents Ltd employed four people to look after site maintenance and all the common services. They have there own on site office. I would suggest that you contact the Estate Manager who was Stephen Taylor. The email is chiswickvillage@hotmail.com
