The Dove on Hammersmith riverside closed…

Was very startled to walk past the Dove this morning and see it boarded up and closed.We had been about to go for Sunday lunch - if there was room, as it always looked completely full every other time we’ve passed.Seemed to be a flourishing business.Anyone know what happened and if there are plans to re-open?

My father had his stag night there in 1959 and regretted it the next day!  I hope the refurb maintains its wonderful character.

Worth remembering that a large percentage of the population increase don't drink on a religious basis. Means more for us as well as pork belly for a Sunday pub lunch!

Pleased to hear the Dove is simply having a renovation - Like Denis, couldn't ever imagine this pub closing.Sadly, the NI increase is certainly going to result in some pubs closing - the reason I say that is that I know some people who run a pub, and that's the reason they are leaving their pub in April - it will probably stay open for a few more months or maybe even till the end of the year, but the turnover just won't be sufficient to make it a viable long term concern as a pub.

Even with our country losing 500 pubs a year and counting, Fullers were never letting this Grade 11 Inn, with its history and river location go.The locals will trust, post renovation, it keeps all its character and nooks and crannies.

That’s rather a relief.You’d think they would have a notice on the door saying the same - not just completely boarded up.Will try again late February….

When making a booking on the pub website, there's a message saying "Thanks for your interest in booking with us. We are currently closed for some refurbishment works from 20th Jan to 13th Feb. We look forward to seeing you at our reopening day. ✨"I'm not sure that Chris's comments will impact many pubs with such prime locations but who knows?

All the other pubs along that part of the river were doing good business on a Sunday lunchtime.So something more specific would be helpful.

The increase in the minimum wage and the rediculous increase in employers NI in April will accelerate the closure of pubs. I find the cost of a pint of beer in pubs reducing my consumption in them.
