E-bikers ride further and more frequently

An interesting study in Oslo that shows how e-bikes replace car use.

The e-bike's share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%, where they e-biked instead of walking, taking public transit, and driving."

“ simply rely on the electric power then it makes no difference to the rider's health”They’re actually very, very bad for the rider’s health because they are exposed to all the pollution on our streets which car drivers are protected from. They are breathing in all the toxics as well as getting no exercise.

Thanks for the link. At least the police are making a start but only 5 seizures a week!  Hopefully the police will step up their game to get more of these criminals off our roads and pavements.

There is a problem with souped-up bikes but hopefully the manufacturers will be changing their software to make the souping up of them difficult if not impossible.

I don't think you know what an e-bike is. You are talking about illegal motorbikes. E-bikes are a game changer especially for older cyclists. The power assistance is limited to 15mph but it enables them to cycle long distances and still benefit from the positive health outcomes of the elevated heart rate exercise.

Speeding e-Bikes with no lights,dark clothing,no registration number, whether on the road,on a cycle lane or on the pavement (I saw the latter last night) is a dreadful regular happening.To continually promote your bonkerssupport for these potentially dangerous activities, without any ifs or buts, deems you to be irresponsible.

After reading this surely only morons would advocate the use of e-bikes. “A “devastating” e-bike battery explosion destroyed a family’s home days before Christmas.London Fire Brigade (LFB) warned e-bikes can be “incredibly dangerous” after the blaze in the south-east of the capital on December 14.Footage from a doorbell camera at a home opposite the end-of-terrace house on Renshaw Close, Catford, showed how quickly it became engulfed in fire, with several bangs and explosions.LFB Deputy Assistant Commissioner Richard Field described the fire as “devastating” and said it was “fortunate that no lives have been lost”.He went on: “We’ve seen around 160 e-bike and e-scooter fires in London this year and this incident highlights the dangers e-bikes and e-scooters can pose.“E-bikes are one of London’s fastest-growing fire risks, with a fire on average once every other day.”

Not really sure what the point of this post is since riding further and for longer is EXACTLY why people buy an eBike.
