More Dunning Kruger from the car lobby. I have shared studies many times on this forum that reveal that it is actually drivers who are most exposed to pollution from traffic. There are many studies that find this and I am not aware of any that disprove it. Air pollution has debilitating effects on the brain and erodes cognitive function. It is a matter of debate still whether this explains the stupidity of car lobbyists and the inability to read or understand anything or whether they were just born thick. Here is a recent study on the topic, one of many:https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2023-09/In-vehicle%20exposure%20to%20traffic%20and%20road-generated%20air%20pollution.pdfHere are summary conclusions:1. that driver’s exposure to TRAP (Traffic Related Air Pollution) in traffic is often underestimated, and that this isparticularly an issue for individuals for whom driving is a major component of their work,2. that active transport modes, remain beneficial even with high exposure doses, but would clearly further benefit from better segregation from highly polluted roadenvironments,3. that all road users benefit from actions that reduce vehicle emissions, and4. with an eye to the future, more consideration will have to shift to tyre and brake wearcontributions, for which technological mitigation measures already exist, or are indevelopment.
