night deliveries Chiswick High Road

Are there any regulations about noisy deliveries, at night, onChiswickHighRoad ?I have been in touch with the Council, they want met go out in the middle of the night( often04.00 hrs) record what is happening,photos if possible ! I do not, at 79,relish the idea of going out on to the High Road in the middle of the night. I did send them photos taken from my window, clearly showing the lorry and its registration number, but heard nothing.

Take recordings of the noise within your home and the times for a few weeks, if all fails try ear defenders.

Not quite sure how one can prove disturbance Or that it wakes me up. I can understand that the transport company prefers night deliveries as they can probably do twice as many deliveries with the clear roads. It’s the banging and sound of pallet trolleys that make most of the noise,, I just think that there. Is a duty of care not to cause noise nuisance.

Problem is if you provide evidence of you basically standing next to the vehicle, the argument will be it's bound to be noisy!  The evidence has to prove the impact it's having within your own home.

The only answer the Council have put forward is to record each incident including veh nos and name of shops. This requires going out at any time between 03.00 - 05.30 hrs.

A lot has changed in 40 years sadly more people, more noise. Absolutely if it is happening every night b6 the same business then it is worth having a word to see if they can find a more workable solution for all concerned.

Some trolleys and crates can also be extremely noisy.  I don't think enough thought has been put into the design when using some of these in what should be expected to be the quiet of the night.

What is the nature of the noise - is it loud engines and reverse beeping or delivery staff chatting? The former is probably unavoidable but the latter might be sorted by a letter to the shop responsible.

Deliveries do not have to be noisy and when I moved here forty years ago itwassoewhat quieter and deliveries were during the day.. I do note what you say, residents should getoutifthey don’t like it, wish Icould !

How else are shops, restaurants etc, supposed to get deliveries? The roads are so congested especially CHR due to all the stupid LTNs etc the quickest, easiest, cost efficient and probably safest time to deliver is when everyone has gone to bed. If you choose to live on a busy commercial road (shops, restaurants etc.) you have to expect some noise.
