Interesting case at the HIgh Court starting today.

Interesting to see the excitement from the anti-LTN crowd at a routine response to a JR. OneChiswick could have saved a lot of money if they had listened to my advice.

So the High Court Judge ruled that it was legal for the Mayor to remove the LTNs. Good for the Judge and good for the people whose lives have been blighted by the imposed LTNs. And good for the Mayor for doing the right thing by removing the LTNs. He stood up for the people and his own convictions. A rare quality for politicians these days.

As the Chiswick Onesies found out, the chances of winning a JR are very slim.Whether people think LTNs are a good or bad thing is irrelevant, the only thing the JR looks at is if proper process was followed.  And even if it wasn't, that doesn't mean the decision changes, the council may just need to re-run part of the process.Putting LTNs to one side, the history of Lutfur Rahman and Tower Hamlets is a somewhat astonishing story of corruption and grift.

Don’t blame you but defining democracy isn’t always straightforward.Look at the Sunday extension of parking restrictions in Central Chiswick recently. Was that democratic? I have no idea (and I’m not particularly bothered either way).

Can’t he @rsed to look at the links. Courts shouldn’t decide these things, it should be democratic, but our polis is so decrepit
