This pub has been acquired by the small Market Taverns pub group, who operate another 14 sites across London including the well-known Market Porter in Borough Market, the Sporting Page in Chelsea and the Lots Road at Imperial Wharf. Their pubs have a good reputation. I do not know the reopening date of the C&A.

I would guess 'rugby pub' might indicate the type of customer they are hoping to appeal to rather than the sport they will be showing.

Next Thursday opening confirmed by story on front page and notice on front door. They have posted up festive menus which look quite pricey but then most venues charge a premium at this time of year. As for talk of it becoming a 'rugby pub' did the C&A do sports before? It wasn't a venue I'd have considered to watch a game. As there is almost zero interest in club rugby at the moment apart from if the Irish Provinces are playing in the Heineken (sic) cup and no internationals after this weekend for England until February.I don't recall there being screens in the two other pubs in this chain I have visited - The Arab Boy and The Spencer Arms - so I think it will be more upmarket gastro than sports bar.

The pub i have never liked and its changed quite a few times. Normaly very empty

I heard that - become a ‘Rugby Pub’. Comment was locally that there’s not enough games to warrant and not quite the right location, don’t you know.

Reopening fairly quickly, perhaps within 7-10 days according to a regular who I know when I popped in the penultimate day.She did also say she'd heard it might have a slant towards showing rugby on the screens.
