Our headlines on news today

Did we really have Lyam Payne from one direction as the first headline on bbc-1 and sky news  this morning for a very long time -  This went on most of the day.  With all that’s going on with our world - is this really the most important news… ?  .  I honestly wonder what other people think ???

Nonsense Steve.  You're  addicted to demonising people.Uncovering the facts is exactly what journalists do and we'd all be lost without them. Revealing stuff is their job.  We owe it to those you call the "bloodsuckers".The rest is down to editorial.But it's the public that rules the roost and has the big say.  If the public want more they get more. A feast so long as they have the appetite. Once they get bored the story dies.Like in politics, blame the public.

“ No more no less.  It'll soon be gone.”Wishful thinking but I fear you may be wrong. The bloodsucking journalists will stretch it out; what drugs, how much alcohol, did he fight with girlfriend, why trash room etc etc. Every little detail will be questioned when it’s really only pertinent to his loved ones.

Millions today don't do news.  They look on it as just another entertainment channel.  When they've had enough they move on.  Thus the big wars going on right now have already become yesterday's chip paper.Pop star plunging to drug-fuelled death is a story with enough legs on it to make a front page story once.  No more no less.  It'll soon be gone.

It’s pathetic. It’s not as if he was a genius, outstanding songwriter or musician. Sad for his family and friends and his die hard fans but irrelevant to the wider world when there is so much going on to report on.

While Liam Payne was hardly Jimi Hendrix or John Lennon, I guess a lot of the younger generation would see his passing as comparable.
