Recycling at Sainsbury’s Nr Chiswick Prk Stn

Does anyone know why the recycling receptacles have now disappeared behind the cashiers used for clothing food and make up etc ?

They can't be bothered with it, it doesn't make money. Wouldn't be surprised if it all got binned anyway.

All supermarkets should have recycling facilities for the packaging of all items they sell for a profit.

The recycling bins at Sainsbury's went in 2022. I don't think the issue there was flytipping but the demand was such the bins were nearly always fund and they weren't cleared often enough. The facility was much appreciated and has made things much more difficult with the closure coinciding with the loss of Stirling Road but Sainsbury's is a private company and it should be the council facilitating easier disposal not them.

I am certain everyone including the elderly and  the less abled welcomed this simple recycling centre which was very convenient. i never noticed any items  eg unwanted groceries or dog/cat food etc being discarded in an untidy manner.If Sainsbury's no longer want to offer the service then a notification should be displayed which I may have missed.The staff I spoke to also genuinely seemed surprised that it had disappeared so i will enquire direct with head office etc.

In my view the closure of the recycling area was much to do with the disgraceful way some members of the public treated them."Recycling Bin contamination" ...(where objects are thrown into the wrong bin messing up the purity of the bin's contents)must have been a headache ...together with the mess around the bins which the Sainsburys staff had to deal with each morning.Exactly the same closures happened in Chiswick's neighbour ... Brentford.The old Homebase site closed for that reason. So too the old Morrison's (thank you the Brentford  flytipper with his decorating rubbish ... see Google's report)and finally the wonderful recycling centre at Tesco's Osterley.Behind the scenes ... I think recycling is a farce and not practicle ... because of the FEW.Are you, readers, one of them?
