I was listening to him earlier on at the Labour Party Conference, and he asked for the return of the 'sausages'. I wonder which ones he was referring to? Cumberland, Chipolata, Sage and onion or Richmond Pork?

My issue with the new government is the quality of their policy decisions up to present.The acceptance of gifts and favours is a bit dodgy,that goes for all the Tory boys and girls who were on the receiving end of them when they were in power,but policies and their implementation are what I judge a government by.

Oh dear! We do like to gang up and have a  bash don't we? Barely three months since the election and the right-wing faction still haven't got over losing. I don't think anyone  believes that accepting gifts - regardless of what they may be was not a smart move, but just one thing - we all know because they were declared in the Register of Interests, which is what the 'rules' require, but think back to Cameron etc. who were all just as guilty BUT did not declare such things, but subsequently got caught out, some do have short and convenient memories on this Forum. These blasted 'rules' are not fit for purpose and need a complete overhaul so that there can be no doubt about what is right. So stop the wingeing and finger pointing and just get over yourselves.

The taking of gifts I think is more to do with the fact they don't like others todo well or god forbid become wealthy, so it appears hypocritical to accept gifts from them.  Otherwise I do think this has always been the norm to accept gifts.

Oh how refreshing to see Kemi Badenoch on the Laura Kuenssberg  show this morning. Articulate, intelligent, no nonsense and extremely clever. She demonstrated true leadership qualities. She didn’t shy away from difficult questions - she confronted them, unashamedly, head-on, openly and honestly. You know exactly what you are getting from her, unlike the wishy washy Starmer, Cooper and Reeves. It will be great if she wins the Leadership election and we see her destroy Stammer at PM  Questions.  Even better if she could be PM in 5 years time but it will be a difficult job to clean up the mess left by Labour who are disintegrating and imploding already after a few weeks. The downfall is much quicker than we thought.  I would think that with Kemi Badenoch leading the Conservatives it may even stem the flow of voters to Reform. Nigel will be panicking!!

Funny how all this righteous indignation never reared its head with all those Tory MPs who had umpteen jobs outside Parliament? I would not defend taking gifts - but I would point out that at least they are known about as they have been declared in the Register of Interests, unlike some.....and I think the famous 'Rules' that govern all this should have a root and branch review, just because the 'Rules' don't specifically stop this doesn't mean they are right, and I imagine most of us think they really aren't.

I have never made any secret of the fact that I support Labour and have done all my life, Jayne especially is a well-known 'basher' and Tory supporter, along with several others. There are many things I don't agree with and things they could certainly do better, locally I wouldn't give them house room. But they have inherited an appalling fiscal situation, and some of us 'get' that there are tough and unpopular decisions that have to be taken. It's just a pity that the Tories wanted people to like them more than they were prepared to tell the truth of the sh*t the country was in, and take the steps to rectify them. They would rather see the country go further down the pan in order to hang on to power at any cost. Having had the dubious delight of catching Kemi Badenoch arrogantly shouting her mouth off this morning, and seeing the rest of the poor offerings they have for Leader may I wish all you right wing souls Good Luck - you're gonna need it!

'I don't think you should talk down decent state schools.'The subject of the proposed 20% VAT on private school fees was on TV this morning. One parent said they were even considering moving house and they might have to forego a holiday! If you can afford to move house - given how much that costs these days - then that VAT is a drop in the ocean. There will be no tears shed in this house - we have some exceptional state schools - especially in this borough,  if people want to go private that's their choice.

They said anything to get votes, be careful what you wish for they are putting us the road to ruin, talking the country done when in fact we are forecast to do better than any other G7 country in the next year which of course they look like they will destroy with tax hikes, VAT on private schools which will only affect aspiring parents who sacrifice a lot to send their kids to decent schools, bowing to unions with crazy pay rises, employment rights to make it even tougher for business growth, withdrawing the WFP for many pensioners who will suffer the list goes on just terrifying

Might I just remind everybody what Rachel Reeves said back in 2017, on Thursday May 25th? "Love this poster from 1945. This time again, it's Labour who will stand up for pensioners, defending the triple lock & winter fuel payments". It was in conjunction with a picture of a poster, reading: "SHE LABOURED FOR YOU....NOW IT'S LABOUR FOR HER, written in red of course, above and under a picture of an old lady. Reeves also has this permanent half smile on her face, as if she's on something. Now she just plays follow my leader.  Starmer also misleadingly said that pensioners would get £900.00 this year and an increase of £400.00 next year, but forgot to mention that this apparently only applies to those who are receiving the current full new state pension. What a lying win double they both are. Anybody here voted Labour, and are prepared to say why?
