Nappies for the Food Bank

With money being tight, The Trussell Trust has had to stop buying nappies in favour of more food. If you're at the supermarket and feel able to donate some nappies -- sizes 2,3 or 4 -- then they will be very welcome.

Perhaps it is because of the use of nurseries and the reduced staff to child ratios in them now making it more difficult.  It certainly must mean liaising and a good rapport between parents and nurseries.  It must have been easier when you didn't have to move your children around in order to go to work.  It can be quite difficult to get childcare places.

Given the cost of nappies and the inconvenience of carting all the paraphernalia around, I find this very odd. Why would you not want your child potty-trained asap?Sending your kid to school still in nappies in inexcusable.

This has become an increasing problem for schools and nurseries with so many children arriving still in nappies.  Disposables are obviously a lot more comfortable than big heavy soggy terry towelling ones to wear especially in winter and have been designed to be more attractive and convenient to parents and cause less nappy rash irritation when worn wet.  But convenience can come at a huge cost and make it harder to encourage moving on to using a potty.

They've decided that they can provide nappies only for the youngest. Kids today are dry much later than they used to be. Maybe parents need to rethink that?

How interesting those are the sizes needed. 7 is the most popular at the Acton asylum-seeker drop-in. Then 6,5 and 1 with 2,3 and 4 very much less in demand. I wonder why the difference.
