Who is the best chiropractor in Chiswick please?Not for me, but for a good lady friend.

David Ward - which pain killers do you use?  I have been using Veganin which is a mixture of paracetamol, codeine and caffeine.  It didn't take away all the pain but it took the edge off.  Now they have suddenly been discontinued though I have seen them on the internet. The same combination in a capsule is available - Solpadeine Plus at double the price made by the same manufacturer.  Veganin £4.99 for 30 and this other product over £8-£9 for same thing. Neither are strong enough to remove my pain so always on the look out for something better.

I recommend Jason Sykes on corner of CHR and Turnham Green Terrace.  He sends you for X-ray first, the only one of dozens and dozens of therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, physios I have consulted over the decades of my painful back. Doesn't that make sense?

Thanks for your advise Jenny, and I'm glad you found a saviour in a lady found 20 minutes drive out of Chiswick.For your information my coffee friend found relief from a hot pad bought in Boots.

The most magic of hands for a bad back - and I’ve used for many years with all sorts of issues, is a lady just outside of London - 20 min drive from Chiswick - called Claire Worman. She’s incredible and I would strongly recommend your friend tried her ASAP. She can advise, treat, etc etc

If she's on Tramadol (which I was prescribed at one time having ruptured a disc) then she must have seen a doctor. He should have referred her for an MRI and consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon. 6 tablets is a very high dose. She should definitely be getting a proper diagnosis rather than focusing on chiropractors etc

Jenn, the woman you refer to happens to be my wife.She lives with constant back pain, alleviated by taking up to 6 strong painkillers, tramadol daily.I am pleased for you, that Vlad from the Massage Ct on Turnham Green Terrace fixed your back problem.

Painkillers only mask the symptoms they do not deal with the underlying problem. Best to get your GP to refer you to a pain management specialist team, the best locally is that at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, who will arrange scans and tests to determine the cause of the pain.

I'm sorry to hear she is in pain, Denis. I can highly recommend Vlad at The Massage Centre on Turnham Green Terrace for back and neck pain. I was unable to move... in absolute agony. In desperation, I booked a late night appointment at The Massage Centre and happened to be booked with Vlad. It was my lucky day! One targeted treatment and my back was, I'd say, 80% better the following morning. A second follow up treatment took me to 100% wellness. I have no affiliation, am just a very happy customer.

Having suffered for over 30 years (and had surgery) it is essential to take painkillers. They reduce the nerve and muscle inflamation and allow you to move easier. Keeping moving is very important.I made the mistake in earlier years of not taking them, figuring it was better to be aware what movements were aggravating it and not being keen on taking tablets unless I absolutely had no choice. That was wrong. When I get a recurrence now I start on the tablets straight away and my recovery is now much faster

Thanks to all for the various contacts.My coffee friend is still suffering, although typically she is making light of her discomfort.I know two people who live with constant back pain; one of whom gave up on professional treatment long ago, considering her debility beyond help.Back pain has many guises. In my time it was the biggest cause of absenteeism than anything else.

The most important issue is to find out what is going on that is causing the pain before any treatment. The wrong treatment may cause further issues and do nothing to help. There is a clinic in Brentford who can do a scan worth a try.

I would recommend Johan Jeronimus, Neuroworks Clinic on Chiswick High Rd.It’s been a while since I’ve needed to see him but I was very happy with the results.

I would highly recommend seeing Alan, the best ever physio, my husband used to suffer with terrible hip pain, one visit to Alan sorted it. He also has a handheld scanner so he can see what is going besides feeling what the issue is. I have also been to him, he is amazing but he is busy because he is so good. My friend's pain had eased a little this morning, so what I hear about the cost of some chiropractors consultation fees I'm hoping for her sake that time and rest will take its course.It surprises me to read that failing an immediate appointment a doctor would advise dialling 999 as the next best option for back pain.

For continuing agony DenisI suggest dialing 999 ...a paramedic will visit the lady and an ambulance may be called.I was hit by such agony on the eve of my birthday recently ...I was taken to West Middx Hospital at 10pm where, after examination, medication in the form of a pill was given to me and I was discharged at 3am!The pain lingered for another 12 hours ... and then disappeared for ever!Let's hope your friend is soon relieved of the agony.
