I am not sure there will be actual dancing in the streets tonight. I think there is a loss of Permitted Development Rights which can limit what one can do at the rear of the property. You will be aware of the Queens Park conservation area covering the lovely properties built by The Artizan, Labourers and General Dwellings Company where my son has just done up one of the fourth class houses. He was not allowed to do a proper loft conversion because they will not allow dormers or mansards, could not have bi-fold or sliding doors at the ground floor rear because they insist on the side return being recessed from the outrigger rear wall, and not have solar panels, when we need to be generating electricity where it is needed. So they can be quite restrictive. While the conservation area will control the street scene, even without it there are very few things that offend the eye in the Glebe Estate. Seems like a considerable loss for little gain, just like Brexit some might say.
