Richmond

What on earth has happened to Richmond - went there this morning- the roads were at a complete standstill - no buses  or cars moving - for a very very long time - and they say this is to make breathing better !!!Oh yes !!!!  With all the cars and buses churning out gasses to the public - What on earth are they doing ? Just interested what you think ?

The ongoing (for over a year) roadworks on the A316 at North Road have forced the closure of Ken Brown Hyundai with the loss if jobs. Access problems an virtually no passing trade made the site unviable and lead to Hyundai withdrawing the franchise.

Also, the endless roadworks at the Manor Rd/A316 roundabout cause problems in every direction over a very wide area.

Richmond traffic usually flows freely and George Street rarely has traffic jams. It’s also very easy for pedestrians to cross the street without having to resort to pedestrian crossings because traffic is so scarce. Unfortunately the emergency gas works prevented traffic through St Margaret’s but there was free flowing traffic through Sheen or through Richmond Park. There is also plenty of parking in Richmond.

I was also stuck for ages in those Kingston traffic jams James ...on that one way system particularly. It was alarming really as I had no idea what was causing it.The fun starts in Chiswick from 4th September with traffic from Brentford being diverted onto the Great West Road and Wellesley Road.Regarding Richmond ... whilst the Station area is buzzing ...the town itself seems to be tiring a bit. Not like the old days.We must be made better aware of Utility Works ... which can spoil an outing.I stick quite happily with Waitrose Twickenham and, of course, Church Street.
