Bank Holiday Sunday in the Old Marketplace

Great itinerary this Sunday in the Old Marketplace11am - 4pm Food St with its variety of street food traders and introducing newcomer Helado, Texas BBQ meets Mexico, which started as a supper club at the Post Room Cafe.Happy Hour at The Fire Station afterwards.Then the West London Queer Project street party.And finally an after party at the George IV.Thank goodness for Monday off work.[But won't somebody think of the parking ....]

It might seem obvious but while the Banks will be shut on Christmas Day, it's not technically a Bank Holiday (unlike Easter Monday Bank Holiday, Early and Late August Bank Holidays say).If Dec 25th falls on a weekday, it is a Public Holiday, but legally not a Bank Holiday.Good Friday also isn't technically a Bank Holiday.The relevant legislation ishttps://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1971/80

“ Bank Holiday Sunday means the Sunday before the August Bank Holiday.”Rubbish!  It’s bad English. If the market is on a Sunday, why not just say it’s on Sunday. If it’s on the Monday, which is a Bank holiday, it would be acceptable to state that it’s on Bank Holiday Monday.
