New Mobile Phone Contract

What's best - contract with phone or buy own phone and have SIM card contract only? I'm with EE..

I pay £10 pm to Smarty and I get free everything in the EU (until Mr Frost or Mr Rees-Mogg decide it's unpatriotic)

One thing to consider in selecting a network, is whether you travel to Europe a lot.  O2 unlike other major networks doesn't have any roaming charges (up to a limit) - so it may be worthwhile having a more expensive contract but not having additional roaming charges.

Do as N V Brooks says ref the phone. I'm with Smarty (utilising the Three network); 120GB and unlimited calls/texts for an incredibly reasonable £12 per month.

Buy own phone with insurance cover and move to non-contract SIM with someone like giffgaff.
