Golfers - help urgently needed

While the good folk of Chiswick have their problems with Hounslow council, spare a thought for us in Ealing. Our Labour chums have removed support for Metropolitan Open Land and they are not to be trusted. There is one of only two swimming pools empty near Perivale while they tell us they are looking to open a lido! Now they want to cross the river Brent and close a golf course so they can rewild the area. They have history on sports as users of Gunnersbury Park know only too well, letting the bowls green go to rack and ruin until it was supposedly too expensive to restore and then replaced it with a crazy gold feature. According to one of my councillors (obviously not a Labour one), the proposal has been called in by the opposition parties. Another hare brained proposal from a council that has  become a laughing stock and a costly one too (see the town hall announcement).

Sounds as if you are unaware, David of the masses of publicity and many petitions including on change.org about the fact that Ealing Council wants to redevelop Warren Farm, losing a huge amount of natural habitat and nature walks in the process.  Google it.  In the meantime, here is one example:-https://ealing.news/ealing-council/children-tell-ealing-council-to-leave-warren-farm-alone/

Thank-you, Peter. Comparisons with Dukes Meadows (which I have enjoyed many times quite apart from being a long standing member of PPGC (and Club Captain 2014)) are interesting but only really extend to their both being nine holes. Both are great, but different in character. But back to matters at hand. Petition is off to a cracking start as we close in on 1,000 signatures. Meanwhile, Ealing Council is hellbent on unwilding the lovely nature reserve and great walking area that is Warren Farm to build sports facilities.

Of course it's the governments fault, always is. I'm sure RAAC can be blamed on them too even if it went in under a Labour government. Please sign the petition, only a few more needed for Mason and his halfwits to sense the public's anger with them.

It's a Govt that doesn't believe that extras should be paid for out of the public purse.  So they reduced the amount that was in the hopes that everything would be privatised. That includes libraries, parks  and swimming pools as well.  Of course without all of those extras people's health and welfare suffers... and that isn't good for any other services... or for productivity.

Leisure facilities are no longer a priority it seems didn't they say a whileback we want people off the golf course and back at work. Not good for those without gardens.

I think it’s been discussed quite a bit that a W4 postcode covers both Ealing and Hounslow Boroughs. Both run by cycle zealots unfortunately

I'm fully aware of that thanks. Would residents of Chiswick like Dukes Meadow to be shut and allowed to be wilded? Both Perivale and Dukes Meadow are public courses. You'd think that councils should be encouraging people to get out and get some exercise. Would think the poor souls imprisoned in Ealing's and soon to be Chiswick's tower blocks might like to.
