Tim, you are not wrong. I am certainly guilty of reaching opinions with little direct knowledge on the subject - the last time I went to this restaurant was before lockdown. I do try, like you did, to chat to local business owners about how things are going as that is the best way to find out what is really going on.It shouldn't be forgotten that, as with all failures in the hospitality business, someone has invested money in an attempt to make our lives more pleasant and lost the lot. Michael, I have long since realised that snark from you is a sign that I have said something that you grudgingly recognise is correct although I'm not entirely sure what it was this time. I doubt Andy Hayler's review did for Saigon Saigon as it doesn't seem to have been the general opinion. Overwhelmingly positive reports of Ngon Deli, which is owned by the same people, didn't save it.I know you are of the view that the plural of anecdote isn't data, but the last time I visited Saigon Saigon several years ago, we drove and parked directly in front. It was a rainy night and the ability to this was a key reason for the restaurant choice. Did we not go back because of the lack of parking or because the restaurant wasn't good enough to tempt us back? I'm really not sure myself.
