Parking fine

Although I no longer drive, I own a van, in order to allow my family to transport my disabled daughter Michelle. Yesterday I  received a message rapidly spoken, informing me that I had incurred a parking fine. I realised that this must be for a visit by other family members to the Isabella Plantation on Sunday afternoon. I had no opportunity to ask questions, and it emerged that neither of the drivers were aware of a fine being imposed. Michelle's Blue Badge has been applied for, and may well be delivered soon. Can anyone remind me of the details of the very helpful poster here who often advises on parking appeals? Unfortunately,I picked up the phone on its first ring, so there is no recorded on the answering machine

Many thanks to all who replied. My son-in-law, the driver of the van last Sunday, is also inclined to think the message was just a scam which arrived the day after he used the disabled car park without a Blue Badge, as Michelle's wheelchair could not have been used from the main car park. We will wait and see if any official penalty notice arrives.

The Times newspaper today features an interesting story on page 24.Someone used CHATGPT to draft his "grounds of appeal" and WON!It was a an issue conducted by correspondence to do with a parking fine.

Companies which operate private parking controls can only obtain details of the owner of a vehicle by asking DVLA for the name and address of the registered keeper.  That information does not include phone numbers.  Arnold's phone call sounds like a scam.Yes, you can contact me at parking@rjen.uk, but my main expertise is with Penalty Charge Notices issued by local authorities.  I have only limited knowledge of the private parking minefield.

You should e-mail Richard Jennings at parking@rjen.ukHopefully he can advise on whether phone calls are being used to issue fines from Richmond Park, which seems unlikely.

How did the caller get your phone number?  How did they identify themselves?  Were they asking you to pay then and there over the phone and, if so, to what account?  It all seems a little suspicious to me.

Sounds really unusual to be contacted over the phone, my advice would be to wait for a communication by letter.

Parking fines in the Royal parks including Richmond are administered by NSL parking services. If you are contacted by anyone else simply ignore it.

That is Paul Jennings.However the signage on the disabled car park (Peg'g Pond) at the Isabella is abundantly clear. A valid Blue Badge must be displayed.
