LBH publishes locations for new e-bike trial parking bays

Bays will be located either on the footway where there is sufficient space and pedestrian clearance, or in parking bays. A bay with capacity for nine e-bikes will be approximately 7m long, which equates to approximately 1.5 car parking spaces.“E-bike trial will launch in Brentford and Chiswick by early June 2023.

Never mind parking for bikes, what about parking for horses? These people were forced to leave theirs on a double yellow on Thames Road.

I'm not sure what the cost would be of setting up Santander docking stations for instance outside Turnham Green and Gunnersbury stations and perhaps near Kew Bridge but I would be pretty confident it would be a tiny fraction of the amount spent on Cycleway 9. It would significantly boost the cost benefit equation of the existing infrastructure as well as providing a significant boost for the riverside economy. Hounslow Council could afford to part fund it.The problem may be that TfL wouldn't agree to a revenue share for local rides where as the e-Bike scheme they are implementing could offer a revenue stream with little up front cost.

Paul, you seem to assume that everyone is able to use a bike at all. Regardless of whether it is a short journey or not.Try concentrating on your own life and find other ways to entertain yourself.Perhaps you will have more time to cycle and stay off the forum.Just a thought.

How much does a Santander Docking Station cost though? And how many of the things would you need? At least changing some road space into parking bays for e-bikes is cheap, quick to implement, doesn't require construction work, and at long last provides a designated space where you know you are fine to leave a bike.

Not bays but for the first time DOT bikes turned up on the avenue opposite south parade.Its the fact that the person delivering the bikes chose to park them on the pavement in a row thus not alloqing one person to pass another. How stupid can one be.Later in the evening was more but scattered all over the place upwards or on the floor.It will come under Ealing (just) unless the delivery guy made a mistake. First time ive seen dot bikes here and not lime

I may be wrong but I think hirers are encouraged to leave bikes in designated bays in Ealing but it will be obligatory for the Hounslow scheme. If the bays are properly marked then the latter may be the better option as I've noticed with the Ealing scheme the staff depositing the bikes often put them in the wrong place nearby where they are supposed to be.Although lots of parking is being lost, the nature of the scheme means that the spaces will be spread out so there hopefully won't be too big of an impact on the availability of spaces in a particular place.The thing I like least about these proposals is that it gives a clear indication that there is no intent to extend the Santander scheme which seems to me daft given the infrastructure that has been built in the area. PCN revenue from fines easily have gone to fund this. The schemes like Lime are much more expensive and come with attendant problems such as dumped bikes (although I think this is overstated).

I didn't realise Ealing had designated bays for e-bikes to be left in, bearing in mind how many are regularly abandoned on the pavement outside Chiswick Park station and elsewhere nearby. Some are so blatantly placed across the pavement that I can only imagine the company puts them like that on purpose as an advertising tactic.

Is that Ealing or Hounslow Julian? I haven't seen any of the new bays in Hounslow yet. They've been around for a while in Ealing.

Keep reporting. Around here it's a combination of dumped DOTT and Lime bikes with many of the Lime bikes producing the telltale Click Click as their locks and trackers have been bypassed (apparently very easy).

Reported8 new bikes taking up 3/4 pavement in morning in i guess new parkig bay and by evening about 11 doing the same and 3 lying on pavement which just about fits 3 people. Never seen them before locally. DOT Great start guys and girls

Excellent. 56 bays around Chiswick. This will support more people to reduce their private car use for short local journeys.
