Three Broadband Offer

Saw in 'Three' Hammersmith a broadband offer of 20.00 per month, first 3 months free. It looked so straight forward. A small box which plugs directly into a socket. I wonder if anyone has gone in for this and has any comment. Its seems a bit too good to be true.At the moment I have Virgin at about 35.00 a month and cables all over the place.

If you go to the Three website it will show you if they think you will have a good 5G signal at your address..https://www.three.co.uk/broadband/home-broadband They do also offer a 30-day money back guarantee on that 5G-Broadband.But they do also have a monthly-rolling contract, which is only a bit more, so that might make sense.. to inititally to test it out longer-term.

They run Community in Chiswick Tim? Sounds like a good alternative to Virgin!

I have Community Fibre, it's very good and very fast. They run a fibre optic cable to your house (a bit more involved than I realised, as a cherry picker arrived and a team strung a cable from the nearby telegraph post over to the house and then down a drainpipe into your house/flat).It's such a relief to be free from virgin which was very unreliable, has a very slow upload speed (a killer for video calls) and keeps putting prices up.This said, I recently had to work from a temporary office and it had a 5g EE router which worked much better than I expected. So it does seem that there are many options these days.

Three is fine if you have a very good Three signal in your area but the reason it’s cheap is because Three just doesn’t have the coverage that other networks have.So be sure to test it first!  But if you need really reliable internet for home working, be careful.Has anybody tried Community Fibre. What is it and does it work in Chiswick.

I use my phone as a hotspot which is ok for the computor to connect to the internet and does not cost anything.

Three's offering is 5G, so you're not connected to an exchange (as you would be with BT). It's effectively a mobile signal and, as long as you've got a mast nearby (and there are plenty in W4) you may fare well. The gizmo should ideally go close to a window. Whether it's 'too good to be true' remains to be seen, but I've heard some great reviews (from those who have a local mast). I suspect unconnected (to exchanges) broadband might be the future in the same way Sky's ugly satellites are fast becoming redundant.
