As far as trips by road in London are concerned, that's by car as driver or passenger, by bus, cycle, motorbike, or taxi, cycling is 8% of the travel share. That's from the latest National Travel survey for 2021. Cycling is now 18% of the number of trips driven by car in London compared to 5% back in 2002/3. Over the same period, outside of London cycling is still just 4% of the number of trips by car.London has seen many multiples of the investment in cycling infrastructure compared to the rest of the country, and in all likelihood that's what's driven up the proportion of people choosing to cycle here.On the High Road, midweek bike counts are between 40 to 50% those of car counts, and considerably higher in the rush hour.
