"I wonder if I'd be arrested if I took some pictures of the interesting security installations there"? I don't see what they could arrest you for. Provided you're on, and remain on a public road/footpath, you can, within certain parameters, take as many photos/videos of anything that you can see. It's OK for them to take photos of you and everybody else, but not the other way round. A bit like North Korea, Iran, China - those beacons and upholders of democracy and free speech. We're living in a 'Not allowed' society. Remember, photography is not a crime - PINAC.
