I would much rather give my money to an independent trader than line the pockets of anonymous shareholders in Pret or Starbucks.Buying coffee locally is a chance to engage in your neighborhood- chat with local faces, learn something new about the locale, or share some useful information with others. In indy shop allows you to do this as it is usually the same faces who return for the same good value and service. Notwithstanding the community aspect of things, I know that local stores are invested in their community too- they look after their premises and their customers.Going back to the coffee, it is something to be enjoyed when prepared and served well. If you want something scalding hot and burnt then expect to pay a price reflective of poor ingredients, poor equipment and poorly trained staff.Suport local!
