Can anyone recommend a reasonably local one?

Maureen, thank you for your recommendation - much appreciated!I've been feeding cats in Chiswick since 1999 and have many regulars and good references on the W4 website under Services/Personal/Pets. I can only do one visit a day and charge £12. I don't charge extra over Easter, but do charge double over Christmas. Please feel free to call me on 07723 716349 if you'd like a chat. Many thanksJill Merrett

I used lions den for our cat and rang to check on her daily (she was in for a week) they said she was fine. When we collected her she was so distressed and had lost so much weight.when i questioned them they admitted she had hardly eaten a thing!, Never used them again always use cat in a flat they are brilliant. Cats are always best left at home in familar surroundings if at all possible.

Jill Merret comes to look after my cat when I’m away . She is local and extremely reliable. She looks after many local cats. If anyone is interested I’ll happily pass on her number.

I have used TrustedHouseSitters for years. Caring Catlover comes into your house and cares for both your cat and for the house. You only pay a sub to the website, so a much cheaper option.I’m sure there are good catteries but catsitting just works so much better for most cats. I get my sitters to send me regular pics of the cat looking content.

I have to agree with you Mark. Some cats will be fine and happy in a cattery. I am sure the owner will know what works for their cat better than others!

Cats are territorial, Mark, and very much creatures of habit. While yours might jump at the chance of a trip away, this isn't the norm. Unhelpful comments, no. Real-life experiences from other cat owners, yes.

cant recommended a cattery, however know a few trusted people who will pop in and feed the cat....

Would never put mine in a cattery. There are many severe airborne/touch related diseases that cats can get including feline coronavirus (different to COVID) often exacerbated by the stress of being away from home, and there have been some horrendous stories of cats escaping never to be seen again.

So many unhelpful comments regarding cattery's and not using them. Cat's are far more independent and resilient than dogs, and also sleep for the majority of the day, meaning time spent in a cattery is not the problem so many make out it to be. I would recommend the Lions Den Cat Hotel in Isleworth - we have boarded both our cats there for many years, and they have always returned home very happy and contented.

Please please 🙏 don't put your cat in a cattery. Their world literally falls apart. They HATE being moved. Some cats have been known to refuse food for the whole of the duration. Even if you only have a cat sitter visit once a day then it's a fair better option. trustedhousesitters.com are brilliant or catinaflat are also good.

I have a good friend who runs a personal pet care/sitting business. Please DM me if you're still looking for help

I also use TrustedHouseSitters and have done so for many years. Choose carefully and you will find the peace of mind worth the process.

If you haven't considered the alternatives, Mark, I thoroughly recommend Trustedhousesitters.com. We're had a lady from there look after our moggie for the last few years and it's been a great choice. Cats don't much like leaving home (when not their choice), so this offers a simple solution.
