The most annoying feature prevailing in football:When the harassed referee trots to the video screen to adjudicate on a penalty decision the result is always shown in slow motion, and the result is an inevitable penalty.The screening should be in real time to give perspective to the point of contact. So many unjust penalties are given now (not necessarily this morning's 50/50 verdict against the Lionesses) against hapless defenders.

Oh my goodness, there is some common ground between Michael and me. The better team won.Don't know if it should have been a penalty and if so whether it should have been re-taken? The goalie didn't move forward off her line as far as I could tell (admittedly didn't study it in much detail). Some Spanish players were quicker to hit the deck, England didn't manage to keep the momentum up in the second half, an underserved yellow for England and it could (should?) have been a red card for kicking the ball away.Maybe the extra day of rest played a factor as well.On another day England might have had the breaks and won, but not today. A shame.

We never turned up, kept on giving the ball away. Ref was a joke, penalty just but a retake should have happened. Bottled sending a Spanish player off with a second yellow card too.

Sir Denis Follows (1928-1983)would be overjoyed to hear of the currant ladies football happenings in NZ and Australia.And Sir Denis still doesn't have a Blue Plaque!

Well the average wage is around 30k and less in the national league.But like many team sports if you want the best then you need money which is why sam ker who plays for chelsea is on 400k the highest payed player and she plays for the australian national team. Money most likely got her at chelsea. Lucy bronze went to lyon to earn money and now has signed for barcelona. Market forces push up wages and you need money to be on par with not just teams here but abroad otherwise your loose the best to overseas teams. More importantly,if the game is going to grow fan wise then there is an issue with grounds as not all have a big stadium to back the girls up. Maybe it wont be long before the wsl teams are playing in the main stadiums

Well, I can only say from a personal perspective - most sports lose so much when the big money arrives - Snooker and Tennis are another two damaged. It may be a short career but it can be very lucrative, and many go on to be 'pundits' after their playing time is over.

"I only hope that big money doesn't arrive and completely spoil things" That is exactly what it does need. Huge ammounts of money coming in from sponsors and tv rights to move forward and grow the game from grass roots upwards. You may earn more money playing for your country but those who are not need that those big bucks.  "What football doesn't need is another load of over-paid spoilt prima donnas" Most are not as you suggest,only the ones people can actually name are as such.

It is truly inspiring - but although I think we'd all like to see the women paid properly and given all the support they should, I only hope that big money doesn't arrive and completely spoil things. What football doesn't need is another load of over-paid spoilt prima donnas, those women played for the sheer joy of the game - let's hope it lasts.Also I'd like to remember someone I knew pretty well and respected enormously who would be bursting with pride at last night's result.Thomas G. Tranter was an English academic, and a football player and football coach. He was head coach of the England women's national football team for six years during the 1970s. Tranter worked as a coach with Hayes and played for the first team.

My understanding is that Women's football in England had been banned for some 50 years from using FA facilities until the early 1970s when a Chiswick resident.. who was also Secretary of the Football Association.. announced the lifting of the banSir Denis Follows... regularly playing Cricket for Old Meadonians..in Chiswick House Grounds and elsewhere.. held high office in Sport.. he once being Chairman of the British Olympic Association as well as being the leader of the Trade Union BALPA.His old home in Barrowgate Road is deserving of a Civic Blue Plaque.His family will be delighted about today's success at Wembley... where Denis often appeared  in the Royal Box.

To paraphrase Gary Lineker, football is a game where 22 women run around for 120 minutes and then England win. Great result !
