The Station House

Does anyone know what's happening with the Old Station House pub in Grove Park? The last update that I'm aware of is that a revised plan was being submitted for developing the site to keep a scaled down pub with the rest given over to flats. I'm posting this now because yesterday the shutters went up and I don't know if this is preparatory to work starting or signals something rather more ominous. I wonder what will become of the hanging baskets? It is really a very sad sight. And a very sad site....

All I can say is I hope the usual suspects on the planning committee and locals don't block the development.Instead people should be pleased that a risk taker is prepared to sink a lot of time and money into saving a building that is no longer fit for purpose and turn it into something that will be useful for many decades to come.

I was at one time a regular at the Grove Park (a truly handsome building), but the last time I had a drink there was about two years ago. A sad situation has only been exacerbated by LBH's policy of making it more or less illegal for the general public to enter Grove Park. Even where they are allowed, many people won't go there for fear of contravening new regulations which they might not have been aware of. I fear that the pub and that little collection of businesses across the road are in for a lean time of it. Thank you, LBH, so glad you won that award.

Colin,Spot on.    As a North Chiswick resident, business and the Railway station adjacent the Station House now exist in a banned area for anyone on the Great Chertsey Road.  Northbound traffic [and Southbound A316 traffic] cannot turn to the West during daylight hours.Any prior habitual shoppers from Mortlake / Richmond are thwarted, as are us North Chiswick residents who eschew a walk alongside the A316.The local residents may become unhappy once they lose local shops.  Shops need business to survive, and business needs transport.  The City Barge/Bulls Head is a 30-minute walk so a Sutton Court Road car ride is essential now.  Henceforth my age-related pit-stops when leaving South London will now be made in Barnes/Mortlake.

Did the owners get a discount for the already graffiti tagged shuttering? Looks as if inner city neglect and decay has descended upon Grove Park. This is going to be a red rag to other taggers and the riff-raff from North Chiswick.
