The battery charge wasn't lasting very long at all with mine and this was identified as being a recognised problem with the particular type of machine. I took the filter out and dismantled it this time and washed it much more than I'd ever done before, dried it and it is now working well. It is a cordless Dyson. Years ago I was told that many vacuum cleaners end up at the tip because they have not had their bags emptied. My Dyson is new in comparison to the Hoover Junior I still have 40+ years on, was very expensive IMO, not brilliantly designed (it is easy to turn the motor on when trying to undo and empty it due to poor positioning of the buttons) collects only a small amount in comparison, and the battery charge runs out quite quickly - but it IS much lighter and easier to use especially on stairs.I still expect it to work for more than a couple of years!
