How/where can one dispose of it?

Does Sterling Road take this? Is it still open?

I think they are open, Maggie, but they now require photo ID and proof of residence. As I'm a Hounslow resident perhaps I no longer qualify to use Stirling Road.

We put used cooking oil into an old large cordial bottle and then in the general wheelie bin when it's full.

Just been to Stirling Road and they take cooking oil. You pour it from your container into a big tank. I used the online booking but, oddly, every day and all time slots appeared to be available and they didn't seem too bothered at the site to check my details. Maybe the guy checked my car reg without me noticing and waved me in.

I used to take mine to Stirling Road as per Peter Evans' description as I used to visit to take green waste a couple of times a year.  Since LBE decided to add the option of bags for green waste I now subscribe and the oil goes into a screw top jar into the black sack waste collection (as per our Waste Authority - West London WA)'s instructions.  I can't remember when I last went to Stirling Road.  www.trashnothing.com (an easy interface for Freecycle) has changed our lives.  You can't presuppose what others want or don't want.https://westlondonwaste.gov.uk/?s=cooking+oil

(Oh and if you were living in South Oxfordshire your Council's instructions would be different - it is collected in plastic only screw top bottles placed in the food waste bin.)

Anyone know if the sale of Stirling Road is going ahead?

I was there recently and the staff confirmed the previously reported closure date of 28 November.It would probably be wise to extend the operation into the new year because councils aren't going to be able to guarantee collections as the HGV driver shortage is getting worse. Bin lorry drivers get £11-13 an hour and Waitrose is offering £30 an hour to those with the right licence so they are losing lots of drivers. As an aside it will be interesting to see if we get ice on the roads this winter, whether councils will be able to grit them.Recycling facilities such as the ones in the Sainsbury's car park are clearly not having collections as often as they used to and will be more heavily used once Stirling Road shuts. People tend to ignore the containers being full and just leave what they have brought regardless.There is no restriction on Hounslow borough residents using Stirling Road.

Sainsbury’s bins at the back of the car park are overflowing. There’s items of furniture and electrical goods. Never seen it this bad and Stirling Road  is open and bookings are much easier. I’ve got photos but could never figure out how to add them here. They’re on Next Door though. Have to be seen to be believed

Interesting to see that Fleur Anderson MP for Wandsworth has a Bill going through Parliament atm calling for NO PLASTIC in wet wipes as that is what stops them from disintegrating when flushed.Thames Water asks for only Pee Poo and the sort of Toilet Paper that is designed to disintegrate in water to be flushed.  It costs UK water companies a million pounds a year to deal with them.  Thames Water won a court case over online advertising:https://www.nacwa.org/news-publications/news-detail/2019/10/21/wet-wipe-ruling-welcomed-by-water-companiesThe ruling came just after wet wipes stretching 20 metres long had been removed from a sewer in North London.

See the front page.  Get in quick as they will close for good in the next week or so.There is an arrangement between the Boroughs which allows us to use this site and Townmead (aka Mortlake)
