Replace tv plasma screen

Anyone know if this is possible?

Very unlikely given plasma is old so very liekly discontinued and very thirsty on the electric and serves as a heater in the summer months,and it would be hugely expensive if you could find one. Get something new like a 4k smart TV as a starting point

I agree. Unfortunately such is the pace of change in the tech sphere that it's usually easier -and cheaper- to replace things. If you're not desperate for the latest model though, have a look on Nextdoor. There are usually people selling perfectly serviceable TVs there for very little money - and even some giving them away which is recycling at its best.

I’m confused . This is a smart LG tv bought less than 2 years ago. Maybe it plasma but it wasn’t a cheapo 🤷‍♀️

Correction , maybe it’s it plasma but from memory it’s got PLS in the product code

Searching online suggests the product codes used by LG include a “three letter code” like PLA which indicates the region, tuner type (eg compatible with UK digital TV) and stand type. So PLA or PLS probably has nothing to do with plasma.Might be worth contacting LG support for advice. lg.com/uk/support seems to work.

Ah - if it’s only a couple of years old I’d be  surprised if it’s plasma.Have you  checked the warranty? John Lewis offer 5 years with all Tvs and other sellers have followed suit. The fact that you mentioned insurance would possibly indicate damage rather than component failure?

Yes accidentally bashed the screen, interesting pattern on the screen.now. Fully  insured but thought better to repair than replace.

The weak point in most flat screen TV's is the power supply. These don't cost a fortune toreplace but that's not to say customers won'tbe charged a fortune.When phoning around for quotes, don't say "my TV is broken" is that is an invitation to get fleeced.Ask them how much they will charge to fit a new power supply - you could also mention that "the capacitorsare blown " (the actual reason for failure) which may workjust so long as they don't start asking you questions.If in doubt Google "flat screen tv failures power supply"or similar.michael adams...

Maggie, I'm pretty sure a damaged screen isn't repairable and that it's not a viable economic proposition to replace it, assuming it's even an option. Insurers will go for the cheapest fix which in this case is almost certainly a new TV set.

If you still have the old one, it might be worth putting it on EBay or Gumtree.  As someone said above, it's normally the power supply that fails.  If yours has a good power supply, then someone would be able to combine it with another one with a duff power supply, and make one good one from the two.You wouldn't get a lot of money for it, but it's better for the environment than both of them getting chucked out.

I have this morning phoned Richer Sounds to ask if they know of anyone who could use it for parts. It’s a great tv and less than two years old. Everything else is in good order. Cannot possibly,  in all conscience, take it to the tip, even if I could get a slot 😂Great minds.
