Jimmy Greaves RIP
I didn't grow up in a footballing household, but even my family knew who Jimmy Greaves was, the most deadly goalscorer of the 1960s, who was sadly left out of the winning England team in 1966 due to injury. He had his problems, but he came across as a down-to-earth bloke with a good sense of humour. After Charlie Watts and Ted Dexter, this is a sad summer for those of use who were growing up in the 1960s (and yes, we were there and we can still remember !).
