Wasp Nest Public Access Road

I hope someone can help. There is a large wasp nest in the bush on the public access road behind our house on Weston Road. I've called the council's pest control, who have said that they don't deal with public property (seems odd considering that's exactly what they do). Has anyone got an idea of who is responsible for the removal in this case? Many thanks

Might be worth contacting one of your councillors  - you can find them on the Council website

Is that access road Bridlington Lane?  If so, on the part of the road that's on Google Street View, all the bushes are planted in people's gardens. If that's true of the wasp-infested bush, perhaps ask the garden owner to deal with it or call the council's pest control team himself?

its now September, why not just leave nature alone. They will only harm you if they feel threatened so if the nest is slightly set back away from the path why not leave it alone, your gardens are benefitting from having them.

Quite agree, Robert. A swarm has settled on the chandelier  in my bathroom, and they have been remarkably friendly. Some of them even join me for my morning shower.

Wasps are pollinators and beneficial.  Just leave them alone if you can now as the males die when the weather gets cold and the queen hibernates.  They don't usually nest in the same place.https://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/insect-pollination.html
