I SEE YOU HAVE TO SIGN UP SO HERE IS THE CONTENT OF THE ORIGINAL POST.  Resident Parking Permits. I just wanted to urge residents of the London Borough of Hounslow to check when their Resident's Parking Permits run out. I have lived in the same road for 27 years and have had a Resident's Parking Permit, which I have renewed either annually or every other year, as required by the Borough.  I have received a reminder when the Permit was due for renewal by email ever since the CPZ was introduced.  Until this year.  (Before some "helpful" person reminds me that it is my responsibility to know when my Permit is due for renewal, I would say that I know this.  However, when a reminder has been sent out every year, I think I can be forgiven for assuming that this would continue unless I were informed otherwise.)  I received no reminder this year.  What I did receive was a PCN.  I appealed against it on the grounds that the LBH website states that a reminder would be sent out before the Permit expired.  Unsurprisingly the money grabbing powers that be in the traffic department have not accepted my appeal, and I feel forced to pay the fine at £55 rather than take it further when I risk doubling the fine if I lose.  So, please don't rely on LBH to help you out - they are, after all, just keen to take your money.  Don't make the mistake I did and trust the Council to run things in a helpful way for tax paying residents.  Don't rely on them to let you know when your Parking Permit might be about to expire.  Check it for yourselves and keep a note in diary or phone so you are not caught out as I was.
