Hounslow LTNs

Can someone please explain why Uber drivers refuse to come into the Grove Park/ SOTG LTN? Uber is a licensed to operate by TFL as are black cabs yet only black cabs are permitted to have access without penalty. These ridiculous restrictions also prevent grocery delivery drivers from access. Hounslow refuse to explain the definition of “access” so they can continue raking in thousands of pounds in fines with their  abhorrent street space campaigns.

As discussed elsewhere, if the area was signed Except for Access, then any visitors, deliveries, contractors and shoppers could get in but not drive straight through. The present Except for Permits arrangement, together with the cameras, only allows selected residents. Is that what the people of Grove Park really wanted?

Even if the residents do want what they’ve got, how come they get to choose this, to the detriment of others.  We could all start demanding but if you’re a decent human being , like our children,you should learn to share nicely

The way the Experimental Traffic Orders work are that effectively the trial operation of the scheme is the consultation. So for the Hartington Road scheme for example the consultation has now ended and the scheme has been made permanent. This is not a Hounslow Council innovation but a structure mandated by the Department of Transport at the behest of the government's transport advisor Andrew Gilligan.Ealing did hold consultations on their LTNs during the trial operation but are now being told that they will have funding withdrawn if they scrap the schemes before the trial is due to end and without evidence that they are not working. The consultation outcome, which showed that most residents didn't like the schemes, is not considered as sufficient evidence to end the trial.By working with the government Hounslow have received more funding and, unlike Ealing, won't need to make cuts in other services to cover a shortfall.

Transport but as I understand it all councils have a responsibility to make a contribution towards the Freedom Pass. If there is a shortfall in the transport budget the money will have to be found elsewhere including from education and social care.

Amusingly given that LBH proudly claimed that they had listened to feedback - it would appear that the surveys LBH itself commissioned showed that nearly all the schemes were detested by the overwhelming majority of respondents.So I guessing that LBHs definition of listening is "we listened to those who agreed with us and ignored everyone else"
