A night in November

We saw this play last night - loved it.I was so impressed about how someone could do something like this as a one man show (his memory is certainly much better than mine!). My husband (a Belfast man) was close to tears at the end as the story resonated so strongly with him. He said it was all he could do to stop himself getting up & hugging Matthew!

Couldn't agree more. Was a fantastic performance and an amazing feat of stamina and memory. I saw Cillian Murphy do a one man performance at the National Theatre about a decade ago and thought I'd never see anything like it again but I think this surpassed it. Matthew Forsythe is clearly a major star in the making.You don't need to be a football fan or indeed know anything about the sport to fully understand the play but it would probably be helpful to find out about the Greysteel and Loughinisland massacres before going. It is basically about how one man came to realise his own petty discrimination enabled full on bigotry so the message is universal.We are blessed to have such an incredible production that we can walk to.

Good to hear the good reviews, I'm going to see it during the week.I saw Stones in his Pockets, also by Marie Jones back in the 00s and it was also very good.  It was a two hander with the cast playing a dozen or more characters.

Five stars from me as well. I know it is a revival but it wouldn't be a surprise to see this ending up in the West End. The fact that it is brilliant obviously is the most important thing but being very cheap to stage can't hurt its chances in the current environment. Totally agree that we are going to be hearing a lot more about Matthew, so take your chance to be able to boast in years to come that you saw him before he became really famous.

Another thumbs up for a Night in November. I don't know a great deal about Irish history or indeed Irish football but that didn't stop it being a gripping and enjoyable evening.
