An unusual and charming tribute

Walking through the Rhododendron Dell at Kew this morning, I stopped to read the messages on a couple of new benches. One was for a man who died two years ago and concluded: 'Sit here and tell a joke. He'd like that'.

Thanks for that Susan.I'm reminded of Spike Milligan's gravestone text "I told you I was ill" (written in Irish)

Actually, does anyone know any good jokes for my next visit?

Susan Kelly ● 1893d

A clever tribute as there will often be someone talking to him, cannot think of one joke though, did you have difficulty thinking of one at the time.

I didn't have one but will try to have something next time I pass through.

Man goes to see psychiatrist. Says 'Doctor, I keep thinking I'm a dog' Doctor says ' lie down on the couch' Man says 'I'm not allowed on the couch' Boom Boom

I was in hospital for an operation recently and told the surgeon I wanted to do my own stitches after the operation. He said "Suture self".

I'm sceptical of anyone who claims to do yoga every day. I mean come on, that's a bit of a stretch.

I didn't think a chiropractor would improve my posture but I stand corrected.

A woman walked into a bar and asked for a double entendre,  so the barman gave her one

Thank you, gentlemen. I hope one of those will amuse the ... dead bloke.

Susan Kelly ● 1892d

Ah, yes, I might go for that one, Alexandra. It's a classic.

And if you hear him laughing.....run

I heard that Oxygen and Magnesium got together and I was like OMg!

Alastair Banton ● 1892d

👍 nice one.

Janice Evans ● 1892d

I was just thinking that, Janice. If I tell a joke and hear a low chuckle ...

Susan Kelly ● 1892d

Don't let me put you off Susan it's a nice idea and I would do the same,

Janice Evans ● 1892d

Susan, I know where that bench is. I sometimes sit there and feel a connection to the person its for. I’m glad you’ve noticed too

Wendy Valvona ● 1892d

Memorial benches are such a great way to commemorate somebody.

I told him Alexandra's joke this morning. No response. Maybe he didn't get it.

You might receive a thank you in another way, in a dream in an unusualthing happening on your next visit, give it 2 weeks.  I'm no expert but that'swhat happens with me.

Janice Evans ● 1886d

Ha ha maybe it’s a slow burn
