Thumping base music Sunday night

Does anyone know what is the source of the thumping base music which  currently (Sunday 2200) is very audible in Grove Park?  I heard it earlier about 1800 and it seemed to be coming from around the golf club in Dukes Meadows (although my location finding may not be terribly good!)

Total disregard for the residents of the area, thumping music from 14:00 till midnight, 10 hours of torture... Says a lot about the club management and how much they respect the local community, great shame and totally against everything rugby stands for

Could hear loud music tonight (10.20 pm) in North Chiswick. Assumed it was coming from a house further down towards the High Road and thought - poor neighbours, hope they have been warned,but maybe it's this.

Police aware. They’ve had “3 or 4 calls” Supposedly licensed to end by 11.30pm. We shall see. Clearly in breach of license if audible over a mile away.

I’m guessing they got a licence from Hounslow Council? They’ve definitely gone over the decibel limit. Not even Chiswick House and Gardens events go that loud or that late! Happy that they stopped at 11.15pm at least.

No event should have this level of noise.Gross noise intrusion of a large area of Chiswick.I've had numerous complaints which I'll pursue.The organisers must have been aware ofthe nuisance they've caused.John

Elia,I think what you've written is pretty harsh. Go up to the club on a Sunday morning during the season, and I think you'll see how much effort (foc) the club's management put in to grass roots/community/kids rugby. They also spend loads of time visiting schools, working with the rfu to promote the amateur game. As i understand it, this event wasn't organised by the club, just they hired the facilities (the main pitch of which for example, is owned by some sort of jv between the rfu and council i think).

I could hear it in the Acton Green area. Must have been deafening for people south of the A4. Do Hounslow Council have out of hours noise abatement officers who can act when things like this occur?

The quote given by Cllr Dunne in the article on the front page seems exceptionally mealy mouthed even by the standards of Hounslow Council. The organisers will not be quaking in their boots about a possible debrief from the council.A number of important questions remain unanswered primarily did the council actually have any enforcement officers on duty and was noise from the event officially monitored. I think I am right in saying that unless a proper decibel measure was made the numerous complaints from across west London will have no evidential value if any sanction is attempted.Secondly, it would be important to know exactly who rented the site to the festival. While I would agree if it was Chiswick Rugby Club they would be blameless as it was reasonable for them to expect that the organisers would be made to adhere to the terms of their licence, if the grounds are owned or part owned by the council then there is a conflict of interest here. An annual festival here would be a new stream of income for them and they would have an incentive to turn a deaf ear (pun intended) to residents' noise complaints.

Which ever entity owns the ground the funding it receives is often dependent on being able to show that revenue is being generated from the facility so there is a lot of pressure to host events like this. It is perhaps significant that, other than the noise on the final night, there was little impact from this festival. I was down by the river on Saturday and was unaware it was taking place. Perhaps tickets sales were everything that was hoped for and the organisers felt they could turn up the amps because there isn't going to be a repeat next year.

Don't think so. The LDN 7s event did seem to stick to the end time stipulated in their licence and the noise ended at around 11.15pm.

Francis,They weren't licensed to materially disturb residents with loud music/ noise throughout Chiswick, Barnes, Richmond and Hammersmith.

John, not disputing that for one second.The point I was rather clumsily trying to make is that they adhered to their licence in terms of the timing of the cessation of noise. It they had breached this it would have been easy to verify.I don't know what decibel limits were specified but, if no council officer was on hand to take a measurement then verification of any breach would be difficult. If there is no measurement then doesn't that mean there is no enforcement?Also the question of who rented the grounds to LDN 7s remains unanswered. Does the council own the Chiswick Rugby club pitches?

Another very noisy event at Dukes Meadows at Kings House School.The council is the landowner with clubs having leases, but there is little oversight of how the area is used and a failure to balance the needs and rights of clubs and residents.
