There will be Inheritance Tax to pay, which is why I originally thought we probably ought to appoint someone. Given that most of the value would be in the property and how much some probate solicitors charge however, I am now wondering if we shouldn't attempt it ourselves, especially as the person we'd expected to use is now too busy help us. At an initial consultation though, we were told there various allowances etc that can be used to offset the IHT liability, which non-specialists wouldn't know about, which has rather put me off!
