Olympics

Anyone used the red button for replays. Nightmare as they swap and change and cut everything into ch time segments Thought hey, watch the women's road race as it was on during the night. Got uninterrupted 2 hrs after an hour of checking for it to appear. Then had to go searching for the next installment, found it after other sports came first with no mention in the info, and then with 8k to go it finished and the final 8k nowhere to be seen. Surely it does not take much of someone in the backroom to quickly split the road race into one segment. Should have not bothered and waited for highlights on BBC Mind you, plenty of Jade Jones this Adam peaty that. They love extensive coverage of one or two people and being repetitive, that has been the case for years Wish I had subscribed to Eurosport given they went pay subscription on BT

Just had a good lookNo live red buttons for chosen live sport like previous olmpics but live red button for BBC1 with repeats and studio chat and one extra ch with repeats, yep, plenty of repeats and studio chat  with a little live sport thrown in noiw and then. Eurosport have added 7 chs for the olympics and you get to choose what you want to watch live. Plenty of live sport on right now Im going to have to add eurosport to my subs

If you sign up to Discovery channel for a free trial you can watch the Olympics on there I believe as they also have the rights. You could of course pay for the first month then cancel.

'If you sign up to Discovery channel for a free trial you can watch the Olympics on there I believe as they also have the rights'That's why the BBC are stymied.

Excellent coverage on Eurosport

It’s strange but as much as I like the Olympics, it doesn’t feel quite right but I’m not sure why.

Will we get can cheering for the track and can clapping for the field

Julian Pavey ● 1918d

You can enjoy the 'can' cheering and clapping while drinking a glass of 'skim' milk while wearing only a 'knit' hat and admiring your 'tan' body.

The BBC have only limited rights to broadcast the Olympics. If you want access to all events you have to have discovery/Eurosport as only they have full broadcasting rights. The era of free access to all Olympic coverage is,sadly, over.

I didn't know the BBC had limited rights.Presumably this doesn't limit the number of BBC reporters going for a licence payer funded trip?

"..it doesn’t feel quite right but I’m not sure why."Perhaps because all the signs in Tokyo still proclaim it as being 2020 ?

Have to say, after initial scepticism, I am now really into it and have particularly enjoyed sports I would never have expected to. The taekwondo was especially exciting. Good to seem Team GB doing well in sports which are genuinely internationally competitive and our medal haul being less made up of posh people in sports with low participation who are benefitting from lottery funding.
