Chuggers on the high road

The number of charity chuggers on the high road reached new levels this Saturday, it was impossible to walk further than 100 yards without being asked for donations on multiple occasions, any chance we could just walk on the high road in peace?

There is obviously a concerted effort all over London.  Central London was particularly bad 10 days ago being persistently accosted and then last week the High Road and TGT.

Possibly the only benefit for looking old is that they tend not to bother with you, presuming a pensioner isn't rich

I am still surprised that people just a few years younger than me still opt to walk in the road rather than pass by me at roughly 6ft apart. I'd be more worried about passing anyone younger (I'm not by the way) than 30 as they possibly haven't had a jab or maybe just one.

It's probably driven by the charities who need funding after shortfalls over the last year or 2. Agree the commission based chuggers are a nuisance. I'd personally prefer to give to an individual collecting as a volunteer rather than taking a cut. It would be nice to be able to identify the difference. Still I guess the charities would sooner take 85% of the proceeds rather than raise nothing at all.

As far as I know it is in the power of the local authority to control and/or prevent this type of charity collection. Towns all over the country have done just that.
