I’ll just have a black coffee thank you !

Do politicians have more problems than most with relationships? The long late hours probably don't help and the system needs reforming.
Claire Moran ● 1941d
Could be lock up your sons depending on who you believe..
Lucas Cox ● 1941d
Just to be safe I wouldn't be letting household pets out for the time being.

What's the matter with you people?
Roger Talbot ● 1941d
'What's the matter with you people?'Live on the public pages, die on the public pages.
Ken Munn ● 1941d
'Just to be safe I wouldn't be letting household pets out for the time being.'Ha, ha. When they announced it my first thought was - it can't be another woman - surely?
Vanessa Smith ● 1941d
'Live on the public pages, die on the public pages.'Particularly when you are Sara Vine who routinely uses her column in the Daily Mail to attack people.
Susan Kelly ● 1941d
So long as you get a kick out of other families misery, Ken.
Roger Talbot ● 1940d
Sounds like you’re unaware of the gossip and spite Sarah Vine trades in, Roger. Consider yourself fortunate.

anyone else heard the gossip about michael gove's superinjunction and the relationship with his young male assistant thats caused the marriage breakdown?
Tim Garfoot ● 1937d
Oh please! Yuk...............
Vanessa Smith ● 1937d
What about respect for his privacy? Whether he had a relationship with a young man or a young woman is of relevance only to bigots.
Robert Fish ● 1937d
Yes indeed Robert. There are some on here who have had a public aspect to their lives and who would no doubt baulk at the idea of someone with an agenda exposing their every move, hypocrisy or mistake, whether it was a private matter or not.I am no fan of Gove or of blatant witch hunts or gossip mongering.Let those who have not sinned etc.
Keith Iddon ● 1937d
TG: "anyone else heard the gossip about michael gove's superinjunction and the relationship with his young male assistant thats caused the marriage breakdown?"No, but I have heard of this other case:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-57268308

Regardless of public life people are entitled to a private life, divorce isn’t fun for anyone pretty shocking some of the comments on this thread. As someone else said live your life in the public eye and see how well you fair! allow all public figures their private life and stop gossiping, it’s hurtful, cruel & bullying and says more about you!
Jayne Thorburn ● 1937d
You are completely wrong, Jayne. I would agree if he were a private citizen but we have an abslute right to know in the public interest what someone who makes the rules that we have to obey thinks about gay relationships, marriage, religion, Covid, abortion and all the other controversial issues. If you are in public life, any private inclinations are fair game as they may influence how they vote and thus rule our lives. Sorry but that's a fact.
Claire Moran ● 1937d
No, Claire, you're the one who's wrong. Of course we have a right to know what MPs or Ministers think about gay relationships, and to criticise closet gays who've openly adopted a hypocritical homophobic stance. Gove's voting record is quite clear. He voted in favour of the Equality Act, and he voted in favour of same sex marriage. But where you are particularly wrong is in accepting scurrilous rumour-mongering as a basis for public discussion. I say this as someone who, like Keith, is no Gove fan.
Robert Fish ● 1936d
What exactly are you “”yukking” about Vanessa ?
Madeleine Hazard ● 1936d
So-called scurrilous rumours often have a basis of truth. Many people knew about what Jimmy Savile was up to long before it was investigated officially. And I knew about John Major and Edwina Curry from journalist friends long before it was printed as the laws of libel are so strict in this country it took a long time for the legal people to let them go ahead and print. Was that anyone else's business? Maybe not to you, but I think it is in the public interest to know what those who rule over us get up to.
Claire Moran ● 1936d
As his wife has used 'scurrilous rumour-mongering as a basis for public discussion' to build her career it is hard to argue that the Goves deserve any particular consideration. His caricature on Dead Ringers as a malicious gossip spreading weasel has been endorsed as entirely accurate by people that have worked with him.
Felicity Caborn ● 1936d
'What exactly are you “”yukking” about Vanessa ?'Granted physical attraction is very much a personal thing, but from where I am how anyone human could fancy Gove in the slightest, is a complete mystery to me! Let alone thinking he could hold any appeal for either gender.
Vanessa Smith ● 1936d
Ooh, Vanessa, you lookist ! (Are we still allowed to be lookists, or is that now on the banned list as well, along with racists, sexists, etc. ?);-)
Richard Greenhough ● 1936d
I've read this thread with incredulity. Why anyone thinks the Gove/ Vine divorce is worth discussing on the Chiswick forum I have no idea. But having read it, thought I may as well throw in the titbit that Mr Gove is, reputedly, well hung. Thought you might all want to chew on that.....
David Halliday ● 1936d
I suspect what you heard was someone saying that 'Gove should be bloody well hung'.
Ken Munn ● 1936d
Totally agree pretty shocking people feel it is acceptable to discuss someone divorce on a forum, this is a private matter, chew on that ha!
Jayne Thorburn ● 1936d
That some sort of joke Jayne? We have every right to talk about politicians who set themselves up as a higher moral authority. And for your information the British people have ridiculed them for hundreds of years.
