Problems ahead for Hartington Road this weekend?

Someone reminded me today that the Chiswick Car Boot Sale returns this weekend. A few days ago I went along Hartington Road and there was quite a bit of traffic due to the roadworks. This wasn't at rush hour and there didn't actually seem to be any work on. I think the boot sale is a good thing but it can't be denied that traffic under normal circumstances is pretty dire. Is anyone considering what might be happening on Sunday with both Staveley Road and Hartington Road likely to be congested?

As far as I am aware the congestion this weekend was no worse than normal. A rather damp morning might have reduced attendance at it seemed to do for the Flower Market as well when I was passing.

I don't know whether there was much congestion at the car boot sale - I'm sure people would have complained here if it was particularly bad.There was congestion in Chiswick on Sunday morning, presumably due to the flower market with Elliot Road and Chiswick Common Road both logjammed when I walked past. Personally I don't mind traffic that is generated by successful well attended events.

As it happens I passed the boot sale on Sunday and the number of stalls was down by 85.93% exactly.Figure arrived at by one man on his bike passing by.

I don't live on either Elliot Road or Chiswick Back Common but nobody choosing to reside next to a busy commercial centre can expect it to be a bucolic idyll. I did once live next to a football stadium and periodic congestion is no problem as long as it is predictable - you can plan around it. Both the boot sale and the flower market provide a net benefit to our community and more people visiting the area is going to have the downside of a bit of extra traffic for a short period.
