English Breakfast

Anyone know if there's a localish cafe where they do NOT serve up the cheapest nastiest sausages and tough ol' bacon. Ive yet to find one.

Good luck with the sausage request then. You get what you pay forin a cafe when paying a fiver or less. I agree about sausages and sometimes the bacon High road house

Bit of trek perhaps although a 267 will drop you off half a  minute from it,is Greedies in Old Isleworth. It uses top quality ingredients and you can have a nice walk back through Syon Park to walk the brekkie off, there's a 267 stop right where you come out onto London Rd.You might even see some of the England rugby team in the cafe too.

Off the point of your breakfast but a visit to Greedies was spoilt by smokers puffing away at the non-smoking tables just outside the fully open doors to the cafe itself. Smoking tables have been placed outside the 'other' Greedies (which is still closed) just a couple of shops away. Despite clear no-smoking signs on the first tables mentioned, nobody was taking any notice and neither was the situation monitored.

Dishoom do fantastic breakfasts and they deliver too.  Great quality sausages and bacon. More British Empire than  English...

Chateau on CHR do a pretty decent one i discovered. Better quality sausages than a standard greasy spoon for example. I'd always thought they just did cake/pastry type stuff.  Strand Cafe is good too, as is Bridge cafe on Stilehall Parade, though the latter may fail your sausage hurdle.

Not sure there's anything in central Chiswick suggested still that approaches High Road House with reasonable quality but better prices? Sweet spot would be £7-9 with half decent bacon and sausages and proper accompaniments like black pudding? And what happened to bubble and squeak, never found that in W4?

I'm with Carl on this one. The Ritz in King Street produces a very tasty "English" and other dishes too.It may be a bit cramped but even the local Bank Manager attends regularly. Oscars on Acton Lane is worthy.I will be interesting to hear again from the OP.

In the end I cycled down to the Strand Cafe at Kew bridge. Really nice brekky and lovely layout. Not a greasy spoon. So thanks for that.

The English Breakfast aI had at the Ritz today was a total tasty tonic Roger...and such fears were far from my mind.The large Sainsburys store across the road will probably have the kit you mentioned.

I could not recommend Fat Boys when I posted before as I normally have the Thai food and had not sampled the English Breakfast.  As your need is clearly great, I put aside my concerns about cholesterol and weight and made the sacrifice of having an English Breakfast at Fat Boy’s.  I can report that I greatly enjoyed it and it was both good quality and value.  I also like the continental quality of eating outside Fat Boys.

What's the problem about making yer own Full English at home? And, anyway ~ what exactly constitutes a genuine 'Full English'? And, can restaurants and greasy cafés run mostly by those of 'non-bacon faith' really produce the breakfast platter that is required?

I once drove to Harrods to buy the  ingredients for a perfect English Breakfast: their eggs,smoked bacon,top sausages,tomatoes,farl and some other items.I returned home and cooked the meal.It was so gorgeous (with the Yorkshire "hard water" tea as well... that I cooked a second helping straight away!

If you want something really new check out elder press on Black Lion Lane  the menu changes daily but poached eggs with avocado on fresh breads is a staple generally.  Not big on sausages or bacon but oatmeal etc is lovely https://www.theelderpress.co.uk/food

I was once invited to the Carlton Club in St James's Street for a Champagne Breakfast at which the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of Kent were to attend.I thought that the bacon and sausages were bound to be topnotch.In the event just platers of tasty breakfast nibbles were served by hovering waiters..and knives and forks weren't needed.I was mildly disappointed with the "feast" but flatteredthat I'd even been invited.On the way home I nipped into a restaurant in Jermyn Street...and put matters right!.

I find some ‘posh sausages’ too meaty and like a good old proper cheap banger. I worked in a sausage factory once so under few illusions as to what goes in.There’s two cafes opposite the HSBC, think it’s Luna that does the better fry up. Good sausages too.

Agree there's a fine line on sausages between too posh and a tube of mush to be trodden.

Yes. I haven't been for a while but I thought the Luna breakfast was good ( inc the sausage, though I'm not that fussy) and good value.

I enjoy English breakfast best when you can choose what size of breakfast eg small or large and how many different items - then you can choose depending on how hungry you are and which particular bits of an English breakfast that you like.  I hope everyone does speak up and say No this or that rather than just accept it on the plate and leave it!

I've heard increasingly that baked beans should not be part of a 'full english', but I have to say that for me they are an essential ingredient - the whole thing can be a bit dry without them. Particularly if you are also having a hash brown or two!And if we are looking at the best 'posh' breakfast, mine was a few years back at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, where the full english included the most flavourful rib-eye steak I have ever had amongst you more usual ingredients. Marvellous.
