Recycling at Flagg Road

So... having discovered thanks to the kind folks here that you can book in at the Flagg Road recycling centre in Feltham for disposing of hazardous garden chemicals, does anyone happen to know their status for hard plastic (ie furniture)? The council website says they do take it, but on the booking-in form hard plastic is not listed.Anyone got any experience here on this ?

I think you mean Space Waye - or do you have to take hazardous materials or vans and trailers to another part of the site or something?  Remember that Business Waste is chargeable whereas Household Waste isn't (as it's included in Council Tax).Do you now have to list all materials if you are a resident - or is it just the hazardous waste - or is it business waste?Hard plastic is as you say listed on the Space Waye site as accepted materials - as is the garden chemicals. On the West London Waste site it has this general list on the introduction page:"All waste and recycling must be pre- sorted before arrival at the site. E.g. plasterboard, garden waste, cardboard, plastics, metals etc. – The site have the right to carry out visual inspections and to deny site entries and usage."That doesn't mention paint and garden chemicals and fluorescent tubes - which is pretty critical as they are definitely hazardous waste. From what you are saying does the next bit of the booking actually list stuff for you to tick against. Is it just hazardous stuff? Try guy.lambert@hounslow.gov.uk for more answers! It's a new booking system.  Anybody else got a take on this?

The booking system asks you to tick what kind of stuff you're bringing, but I don't think they hold you to it if you turn up with something else. I have noticed that the new booking system makes it more difficult to book a slot at a site outside your own borough, as one could before, not letting me book Mortlake because my address was in Ealing.  That's new.

That's interesting considering Guy Lambert's recent post.

OK, that's good - I'll chase the guy at the council up direct There was no issue with booking a slot - I just wanted to clear up the differences between 2 web pages and make sure they do take hard plastic befdore I headed off with a car full of garden pots and broken chairs

Do let us know.  Completely agree that if we are going to have to go to the bother of booking that we don't want to find out that we end up coming home with stuff.BTW a lot of stuff can be found a home by using Freecycle - an easy way is www.trashnothing.com where there are Wants as well as No Longer Wants.  A friend has recently managed to rehome quite a few things by putting them outside her front door on her garden wall with a message that they need a new home. You mustn't leave anything actually on the street and need to stay responsible ie bring in if it rains. So is everyone finding that they can no longer take things to alternative WLWA R&RCs now?  I think they should let us know of any changes.

I’ve seen people leave stuff out and say £20, please enquire within. Goes very quickly.

Usually in the past when I have been going to the Recycling Centre I have been going en route to something else eg a school pick-up or big shop. (Well that was Stirling Road.) It would have been a bit of a disaster if I couldn't dispose of what I was taking.
