Middle East Tension London demonstrations

We are aware of the on-going tensions in the Middle East and would like to offer reassurance to our communities across London. We know that there are demonstrations in London this weekend following the events during the past couple of weeks. The Met has a comprehensive policing plan in place and we are in contact with the organisers of these events. We would urge those looking to demonstrate to make sure they are compliant with the Covid regulations. Details of these can be found at   https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do We would also urge to protest peacefully and be considerate to local communities. Officers will be on hand throughout the day to talk with those gathering and to explain the rules. Through speaking with the community we know there are some concerns around a possible increase in hate crime. Hate crime comes in many different forms and strikes at the heart of communities. With your help, we can tackle those responsible for hate crime and keep our communities safe. If you experience any hate abuse, we would urge you to report it to police, we are here and ready to help anyone who has been affected by someone else's prejudice, ignorance or violence. As a community it is important that you communicate your views and sentiments to the police or authority so we can adapt our policing response to deal with these concerns. If you need to reply regarding this message, tap on this email address: owl.westarea@met.police.ukRegards,Lou RobertsBCU Comms TeamEmail: owl.westarea@met.police.uk
