Swifts are back!

I saw and heard my first swifts today near the Post Office on Heathfield Terrace.

Yep, I saw loads of the noisy buggers flying around there today - always an excellent sight. This was preceded by some smashing views of a common tern zipping over the Thames between Oliver's Island and Kew Bridge (I also saw three house martins over Elmwood Road yesterday - we are very lucky with birdlife in W4).

Thanks Richard! I've seen them in Barnes before and even one in the Business Park but didn't know they'd made their way into town.
