One-way system on Kew Green

Just a warning that you can no longer cross the bridge then make a quick right onto the Green. You have to drive on to the far end as it's now a one-way system.I cannot see the point of this change. It's not as if that part of the Green is busy, being used mostly by people accessing the Gardens.It's as if Councils have nothing to do but sit around dreaming up ways to waste council-taxpayers' money on pointless traffic schemes.

Are you talking about the right turn into Kew Green after the bridge?I'm pretty confident that Kew Green is still two-way and you can turn right from the new inside southbound lane without a detour.

There were no entry signs up this morning. They had temporary bases, but i suspect it's part of the new (paid for) parking scheme on the inner ring of the green.

Looks like temporary signs - perhaps to sort the parking as someone suggested, and not part of the Council’s War On Motorists :-)

According to the Kew Society's web site "The Council plan to have one-way operation for traffic using the road around the western Kew Green. Entry from the A205 will be at the southern end by the Botanist Restaurant and exit onto at the northern end where the A205 passes over Kew Bridge."They say this is because the coach drop-off and pick-up area for Kew Gardens is being moved from Kew Road to the Elizabeth Gate.

So not temporary. Coaches have always dropped at the Elizabeth Gate but maybe there'll be more of them now.

Happy to be proved wrong….again :-) Actually one way would really help at the local school which often has a scrum of cars and SUVs there at pickup times, as well as the large coach they have every day.
