Shredding of papers

Is there anywhere in Chiswick where papers (about 50 pounds) can  be shreddedMany thanks

I could be in the same boat - I did have a list of a few firms but how safe and reliable are they?

Try https://www.homeshreduk.co.uk/home-paper-shredding. They send you the sacks, you fill them and then they are collected and shredded.

Probably because shredded paper isn’t recyclable since the fibres are too short.

But it's going to end up in the recycling centre, anyway, Rima, since most people, having shredded it at home, will eventually 'take it down the tip'. Perhaps a little ingenuity is called for to figure out what to do with it. Stuffing mattresses? Building papier mâché houses? Surely it can't be beyond the mighty brains at Fortress Hounslow?

Why do you need to shred so much?Just tear off any details and put in food waste bin. Recycle the rest for weekly doorstep collection.Incineration ( EFW ) is not only very bad for the Climate Emergency but it also leads to more trees being cut down to make more paper.,

The only details we need to tear off are our name and address. Put in food waste bin minus any staples. Quick and easy to do.

Do a little shredding more often.  We often don't bother with a shredder now.  In the bottom of the food waste bin or in the wormery.  You definitely don't need to shred every page of everything and as we use technology more the amount of paper we get is reduced - saving more trees.

Yes. I get all my statements online now. The worst are estate agents who have managed to find me in case I’m thinking of selling! Dexters post these to me every week when I’ve never contacted them at all.

Giant lorry loads of shredded paper used to leave that Brentford firm SHRED IT and travel deep into France to an MDF furniture manufacturer.But I like Colin's suggestion. It's time the Council upped it's game...better informed us of their practices and much more.
